Tragic news! Dr. Now passed away on the last day of 2024!! Rest in peace Dr. Now!!

Some My 600-lb Life stars tragically passed away after their seasons aired, and they are missed. My 600-Lb Life tells the stories of people who seek the help of renowned weight loss surgeon Dr. Younan Nowzaradan. The show’s cast members attempt to change their lives by losing weight. Their journeys often begin with Dr. Now recommending that they lose a certain amount of weight. If they don’t, they can’t qualify for bariatric surgery. If they follow his program, they are often highly successful. Sometimes, they change their lives for the better by filming the series.

However, some cast members who sought My 600-lb Life‘s Dr. Nowzaradan’s help have sadly passed away since their episodes aired. The series celebs who have died include Henry Foots, Sean Milliken, James King, James “LB” Bonner, Lisa Fleming, and Coliesa McMillian. In addition, Renee Biran, Gina Krasley, Ashley Randall, Laura Ann Perez, and Destinee LaShaee are My 600-Lb Life reality stars who sadly died. Additionally, Rob Buchel and Kelly Mason passed away during filming. Since My 600-Lb Life season 12 is now over, it’s time to revisit some of the most beloved stars who have died.

Henry Foots

My 600-Lb Life Season 1

Henry appeared in My 600-lb Life season 1 in 2012. The show’s first season chronicled seven years in patients’ lives, so fans learned a lot about Henry, who was endearing. He was the first star of the show to pass away. He died in May 2013, shortly after his episode aired, at 54. Henry was 47 when he reached out to Dr. Now for help. He was about 715 pounds and wanted to lose weight before his high school reunion. On the show, Henry flat-lined during his surgery. However, he lost 440 pounds, impressing My 600-lb Life fans.

In 2012, Henry returned to work as a bus driver. Tragically, he had a medical episode a few months later and lost control of a bus. The vehicle struck and killed a 43-year-old woman. Although this was a terrible experience, Henry’s 2013 death was reported to have no relation to the accident or his weight. However, his exact cause of death wasn’t made public.

Sean Milliken

My 600-Lb Life Season 4

Sean’s My 600-lb Life episode aired in 2016. He weighed over 900 pounds at the start of his journey. With Dr. Now’s help, he lost over 400 pounds. After the loss of his beloved mother, Renee, in 2017, Sean was living with grief. By 2019, he had gained over 250 pounds and was admitted to the hospital, where he’d lost that weight.

When he was released from the hospital, he regained it all, so Dr. Now hospitalized him again.

Two weeks after returning to the hospital, Sean died at the age of 29. He passed away due to cardiac arrest resulting from an infection.

Kelly Mason

My 600-Lb Life Season 7

Kelly appeared on My 600-lb Life season 7 and was the second person to pass away during filming. She was 41 years old and over 700 pounds when she began her weight-loss journey. She was nearly immobile when she sought help from Dr. Now.

She had previously been hospitalized for shortness of breath and congestive heart failure.

Kelly lost 220 pounds and was approved for weight-loss surgery. She then lost another 100 pounds. However, in February 2019, she passed away in her sleep a few days before her 42nd birthday due to cardiac arrest. Kelly’s death saddened Dr. Now. He said that it was not a result of her relapsing back into her old eating habits. Instead, it was due to the fact that her weight damaged her heart.

Gina Krasley

My 600-Lb Life Season 8

Gina’s death was reported by People on August 21, 2024. It was sad news that showcased the perils of food addiction. She passed away at home – her loved ones were with her. Gina from New Jersey likely died due to health complications linked with her weight, but no official cause of death was revealed. She was only 30 years old when she passed away.

This is awful – she was much too young, and she’ll always be missed. She was much more than an overweight woman – Gina, like everyone else, had her passions and talents. For example, she enjoyed dancing. Sje fe;t tjam anyone could dance, at any weight, and she’s right. On My Big Fat Fabulous Life, Whitney Way Thore continued to dance after her PCOS health condition made her gain weight. People like Gina and Whitney open minds, making people view dancers in different ways.

James Bonner

My 600-Lb Life Season 6

James, also known as “LB,” also died at the age of 30. Sadly, he took his own life. It’s wrenching that he felt so much despair. He often posted about being kind on social media. He was someone who seemed to feel society’s sting, and as such, he encouraged others to treat people well.

For those with super morbid obesity, the world can be a very cruel place. He was in his South Carolina home when law enforcement personnel found him.

James lived with a serious disability that changed his life forever. Due to an auto accident, he lost a leg. This is a major life change that brings so much trauma. Once able-bodied, James had to come to terms with his impaired mobility. If he turned to food to feel better for a while, who could possibly blame him?

It’s hard to judge someone who is suffering so much. That’s why people shouldn’t judge.

Some people can adjust to their disabilities – others never make peace with how their worlds have changed. Not making peace with it doesn’t make someone a bad person. Everyone’s on their own journey. It’s heartbreaking that James chose to end his life and those who remember him should have compassion. To be in such a dark place is terrible – people who commit suicide are not seflish, but desolate.

In May 2018, as seen above, James seemed to be in a better place emotionally. He wrote:

I wouldn’t trade this amazing journey I’m on for anything. #nomore600lbs #bringinbackthebeard #chunky&funky #chunkydunkin

It’s good that he had happy moments… that he was able to be grateful for a life that was sometimes difficult. However, he probably lived with depression. Many My 600-Lb Life stars do. People begin to overeat because they are unhappy – they are trying to fill up the empty spaces. Unless the right treatment is found, depression can alter a person’s mindset in dangerous ways. It can lead to bad habits and troubled thoughts. James, who probably missed the days when he had both of his legs, did not have an easy life, but his life had value.

My 600-lb Life is a heart-wrenching reality show about real people trying to overcome serious health problems. Unfortunately, they are not always able to do this. Despite their best efforts (and Dr. Now’s), it is sometimes too late for them to recover. These My 600-lb Life stars were brave enough to share their journeys with the world and will always be remembered.
